Welcome to the # Sydney channel. We hope you enjoy your stay. For the benefit of all our users, certain guidelines have been set in place. Inappropriate behaviour or action in channel is highly discouraged and will be met with warnings/kicks/bans at channel operators' discretion. Users are asked to please refrain from:
- Flooding the channel - this means no repeating, pasting logs etc
- Advertising or spamming - advertising or spamming of channels, websites etc will result in a ban
- CAPS ABUSE - Don't use your caps lock, its annoying.
Using scripts - excessively annoying scripts and/or colours will be frowned apon however in moderation are ok.
- Excessive use of bad language - c u next tuesday will result in immediate ban, for the rest of the 4 letter words, keep them to a minimum.
- English kthx - We're an english based IRC network, please dont use other languages as it is rude.
- Offensive nicknames - Keep it PG people, inappropriate nicks including those with sexual nature or offensive content will be banned.
- Abuse or harrassment will not be tolerated, if you have a problem with someone, take it to /msg or /ignore them.
- Trawling for chats, eg. 23/m/livo here any chicks want to cam will not be tolerated, asking if people are in your area or have similar interests is ok in moderation.
Recent changes in rules mean you can now:
- Change your nick without having a +
- Use colours and mp3 scripts in moderation
- Use # without being banned, spam is still not tolerated
- Display http:// addresses without being kick/banned
** Please remember, excessively annoying use of scripts or colours, or inappropriate websites, channel spam or inappropriate nicks will still be enforced with a warning/kick/ban.
Channel Ops Guidelines
- Do not abuse or antagonise users
- No kicking or banning unless a rule is broken. Warn first.
- Do not kick/ban users for personal reasons from /msg etc. If you dont like them, /ignore
- No automated scripts for kicking/banning
- Ops must follow the same rules as all other users.
- Permanent (noexpire) bans may only be set by channel managers.
- Full discretion is given to channel operators.
- Failure to abide by channel op rules may result in suspended access or removal completely.
Please note that # Sydney is not a company or a business. It is a social forum for all users local, national and international, who wish to meet in a friendly chat environment. Our Ops have 5000+ years of combined experience and their tolerance in channel is legendary! If however, you feel you have been unfairly kicked/banned and have a legitimate complaint you may contact the Channel Managers at complaints [at] sydneyirc [dot] com to have the matter considered. If your complaint is proven to be false, malicious or totally unreasonable you may find yourself placed on a lengthy ban.
